Mr. Sindiso Ndema Ngwenya is an economist and transportation expert. He brings with him over 40 years of service experience at the regional and multilateral levels covering the public and private sectors, as well as quasi-government institutions. Mr Ngwenya served as the fifth Secretary-General of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), from May 2008 to August 2018. Prior to that, he served as the Assistant Secretary General of COMESA in charge of overseeing the development and implementation of COMESA programmes, from 1998 until 2008. He has also won many awards in recognition of his contribution to the socio-economic development and regional integration. Mr. Ngwenya has also served as Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary to Boards of various regional and multilateral organisations in Africa and internationally.
